The Alice Springs Anglican Church at 18 Bath Street was designed in 1982 by architect Andrew McPhee.
Its most distinctive feature is the hyperbolic paraboloid roof structure, a form that allows a complex, almost tower-like silhouette to be achieved through relatively simple structural geometry, giving the small church a strong sense of presence and identity within the local streetscape.
The building demonstrates how modernist architectural ideas can be adapted for a compact religious building, using roof geometry and careful planning to create a space that is visually striking without relying on decorative ornament.
