ANZ BANK
The ANZ Bank branch on the corner of Todd and Parsons Roads in Alice Springs was designed by Hassell McConnell & Partners in the early 1950s and is an attractive example of mid-century bank architecture adapted for the central Australian environment.
Later remedial works to the roof were undertaken by Andrew McPhee, reflecting ongoing investment in the building’s fabric and functionality over time.
While extensive alterations in recent decades have changed parts of the street-level appearance, elements of the original modernist design are still visible above the footpath awnings, offering a glimpse of the building’s original architectural character.
