The National Archives NT Office in Millner, designed in the 1970s, is an example of Brutalist architectural style within the Darwin context, expressed through its monolithic forms and textured concrete surfaces.

A distinctive feature of the building is the network of rainwater collection pits around the site, illustrating a pragmatic response to water management in a tropical environment.

The facility is jointly operated by the National Archives and Library & Archives NT and houses an extensive collection spanning more than 170 years of Territory history, including government records, photographs and maps.

Through its functional design and civic role, the building embodies the practical and archival mission of preserving the documentary heritage of the Northern Territory.
