The Tennant Creek Civic Centre at 41 Peko Road is a modern civic building developed to support local government and community functions in the town.

Opened in August 1983, the building was designed by Andrew McPhee of Alice Springs, an architect responsible for a number of notable buildings across the Northern Territory, including Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alice Springs.

The building was constructed by Siltzer Brothers and is distinguished by its strong pyramidal form, which echoes the shapes used by McPhee in the design of his own home in Alice Springs.

McPhee has noted that the pyramid form was intended to take maximum advantage of passive solar energy, demonstrating a considered response to climate through architectural form.

As a civic building, it reflects late twentieth-century approaches to regional public architecture in the Northern Territory, combining symbolic presence with environmental performance.
